From the Garden Gear range of flower seeds, the Cowslip, or Primula veris, is one of the most striking native primula species. One of the most striking native primula species. Several flower stems are produced, each crowned by a one sided cluster of long funnel shaped blooms rich yellow and sweetly fragrant. Cowslips are perennial plants that are an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
Flowers from March to May and grows to approximately 15cm tall. Thrives in an open position or part shade and is happy in moist or dry soils. Sow late winter onwards. Sow seed on the surface of good compost firm then seal in a plastic bag and keep in a light position to germinate which takes 10-15 days. Transplant when large enough to handle into pots and finally plant out 23cm apart in good soil in sun or part shade.
