From the Garden Gear range of flower seeds, this climbing variety of Nasturtium will produce flowers in orange and yellow hues. The edible leaves and flowers of this plant make it an excellent addition to salads. Nasturtiums attract hoverflies which will destroy aphids, making them an ideal companion plant in the greenhouse where they will help protect tomatoes and cucumbers against whitefly.
Sow the seeds 5cm apart and 1cm deep in pots in April, germination time is 10-12 days. When all danger of frost has passed harden off and plant out. Seed can also be sown direct where it is to flower from May onwards. Nasturtiums prefer poorer well drained soil and a sunny position.
