From the Garden Gear range of flower seeds, the Pot Marigold plants give off a substance which deters the eel worm, so are great for planting next to potatoes. Marigolds also repel whitefly from tomatoes and attract beneficial insects such as ladybirds, lacewings and hoverflies.
Sow seed from March to May where they are to flower. Rake soil to a fine crumbly texture and make some drills 12mm deep the rows should be spaced 30cm apart. Cover the seeds with fine soil and water. Germination time is approximately 7-10 days.
