From the Garden Gear range of heritage fruit seeds. The Bilberry, Vaccinium myrtillus, is a relative of the American Blueberry, and can be found on the moors and woodlands of northern Europe. Small, low growing, spreading shrub about 30cm high. Plants are covered with small white tubular flowers in spring followed in summer by blue black berries.
Growth is compact with small green leaves requires damp acid soil in full sun or light shade to thrive. Fruits are sweet and the leaves can be used in herbal remedies.
Tip: If grown in pots, try to water with rain water rather than tap.
