Sowing the seeds of the past

Sowing the seeds of the past

A new addition to our website this week is our very own heritage range of Garden Gear vegetable, herb and flower seeds.

Each of our 21 unusual vintage varieties has been carefully sourced and are sold in Garden Gear’s own unique packaging, made from recycled manila envelopes.

The seed packets are decorated with their own individual Victorian line-drawn illustration or photograph, and evocative period description as well as cultivation advice for the gardener or allotment-holder.

Everyone who plants one of our seeds will be helping to keep the past alive for future generations, introducing some unusual varieties into the garden that provide a good crop yield and superb flavour.

We currently have five flowers, six herb, five salad and five vegetables in our individual Garden Gear seed packets and box sets containing five different varieties.

The varieties of Garden Gear seeds include:

Herbs – basil, sage, parsley, rosemary, chives and thyme

Salad – Mesclun salad mixture, tomato, cucumber, onion and radish,

Vegetable – beetroot, carrot, courgette, parsnip and French bean

Flower – Cornflower, Clove Pink, Stock, Larkspur and Sweet Pea
